Surprising beautiful women

2 hospitalizations ago, I was sitting in the common room before the sun came up.

One of the dining workers carted in the morning coffee.

“And the most graceful woman in the room just walked in,” I pealed.

“You’re pulling my leg,” responded the black woman in dining cap and small gold hoops.

She tried to play it off, but she was clearly flattered.

The next day, staff was asking whether I wanted to eat in the cafeteria downstairs or eat on the unit.

In my head, I wanted to end on a good note meeting this lady.

“Upstairs, please.”

And that is the last time I’ll ever see her in this lifetime.
